  After graduate studies in environmental economics and ethnology in France, and several internships or consultancies with NGOs (SOLAGRAL, CIRAD, CIRED and IUCN) and international organisations (UNESCO and WBCSD), Cherryl is now undertaking a PhD at the Laboratory of Urban Sociology (LaSUR) of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). In the framework of the Swiss "National Centre of Competence in Research: North-South", her PhD fieldwork brings her to Autlan, in western Mexico, at least once a year, where she enjoys the very lively, warm and colourful environment and investigates the limits to an integrated water resources management. Within the same team in Lausanne, she has also worked on a research project dealing with issues of local development and participatory approaches in Ecuador for 3 years.
