THE REBEL: she has her tongue pierced
Zara attended a nursery school in Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire, England. Afterwards she went to the Blueboys school, the Beaudesert School and Port Regis. In 1999 she finished her education at the Gordonstoun Boarding School, where she studied PE, geography and biology. She studies osteopathy now. Her biggest hobby is horse-riding.

she got her unusual first name from her uncle, Prince Charles. "The baby made a rather sudden and positive arrival," recalled Princess Anne later, "and my brother thought that Zara a Greek biblical name meaning 'bright as the dawn' was an appropriate name.
There is more than a touch of her grandmother to Zara's looks - as photographs of the two laughing reveal - but while the Queen is listed in the Guinness Book Of Records for having the second most titles in the world (only Spanish aristocrat the Duchess of Alba has more), her eldest grand-daughter does not hold any at all. Princess Anne was adamant that her two children remain without a title, believing life would be hard enough for grandchildren of a monarch.
Like her uncles and maternal grandfather, Zara was educated at the challenging Scottish boarding school Gordonstoun. She began her studies alongside her brother at the local primary school, and was sent to boarding school in Dorset when she was eight years old, because her mother wanted her to mix with children from ordinary local families.
After sitting her A Levels, Zara decided to take a year out, spending three months of it in Australia and New Zealand. Suddenly the press picked up on the photogenic blonde having a whale of a time bungee-jumping and enjoying Sydney nightlife.
Now studying at Exeter University in South-West England, Zara, who is currently single after her recent split with British jump jockey Richard Johnson, leads a very sporty life. She hunts, she three-day events, she even plays hockey for Cheltenham Ladies' College and is president of Club 16-24, the young members' club of Cheltenham Racetrack.
She has many friends – both royal and non-royal – and is very close to Prince William, who is just one year her junior and said to love the way she teases him mercilessly. Zara has managed to do just what her mother hoped she would: lead a thoroughly normal life, free of the traditional trappings of monarchy.
