  • Notes
    • See record of Jonathan Harrington whose diary of Deaths is with Lexington Hist Society.

He attended the public schools and lived at home until sixteen years of age, when he was bound out to his uncle, S tephen Skilton, of Burlington MA, with whom he lived until he became of age. He then went to Lexington and learned the trade of shoemaker. At the time of his marriage (Sept 10, 1823) he was following that trade in Burlington MA, at the p lace on "Solly Lane" where his father, Edward, who was then incapacitated for w ork, was living, and where his grandfather Solomon Wood lived. In about 1825 he moved to the old Thorning homestead on Wood Street, and resumed the combined o ccupation of farmer and shoemaker, after a very general custom in country towns
