Notes: Maasbree (in de plaatselijke streektaal 'Bree') is een plaats en gemeente in Limburg. De gemeente telt 12.834 inwoners (1 januari 2007, bron: CBS) en heeft een oppervlakte van 51,62 km² (waarvan 3 km² water).
Tot 1945 stond er in de Molenstraat de karakteristieke molen van de 'Pero'.

Geschiedenis
Maasbree en Baarlo behoorden bij het Overkwartier van Gelre of Spaans Opper-Gelre. Tijdens de Spaanse Successieoorlog rond 1702 werd het gebied door Pruisische troepen bezet, en zo bleef het als deel van Pruisisch Opper-Gelre ongeveer een eeuw lang Duits (tot 1814).
Maasbree was vroeger een heerlijkheid en kende een kasteel genaamd Huis Bree, dat inmiddels verdwenen is. Op deze plek staat nu de boerderij De Plaats.
