    • had his own plantation Chatesworth and also inherited the remains of Turkey Island , when his father died in 1711. William Randolph II was a very active Virginia public servant, first as Clerk of the House of Burgesses, Clerk of the County of Henrico, then as a Virginia Burgess and member of the Council, finally as Royal Councillor of State and Treasurer of the Colony. Many of these offices would be filled by Randolph descendents during the 18th century, thus perpetuating the family's political influence in Virginia.
