- Walter Denny Jay, was "a most remarkable man. One who kenw phrenology said he had a head much like that of Napoleon Bonaparte, and in many traits he resembled him... concentration ...courage with prudence.." according to the "Annals of Newberry." Walter Denny Jay likely had a son named John who is buried in the Quaker burial in West Milton. His stone says he is the son of W.D. & M. Jay, died 2 Mo. 6, 1840 at 27 years of age. (C-PHO, 296)
