      inventory taken 2/21/1677
      Will left featherbeds and bedding to four youngest children, Marah, Phebe, Ebenezer, and Nathaniel. Marah received in addition a new red rug and serving platter and another serving platter went to Phebe, All other household goods were divided equally between the four. His house and land went jointly to Ebenezer and Nathaniel provided thay have children, with Nathaniel getting a flock bed. If the sons died without issue then the house and lands were to be divided between Marah and Phebe. Nathaniel and Ebenezer each got an ox and cow, and the daughters each got a cow. Marah and Phebe got cupboards with Marah getting first choice. Each of these children got a table, chest,. and linen with Phebe getting the best linen. Daughter PRISCILLA SHORE got 40 shillings and grand daughter PHEBE SHORE got 20 shillings. Marah got his wife's and his bed. The horses or their value if sold went to the four youngest children except his gray mare went to Ebenezer and Nathaniel. Wife Sarah was made executress to be assisted by Ebenezer and granted use of entire estate so long as she lived. Inventory of estate taken and valued at 263 Pounds, six shillings, eleven pence.

      Arrived at age nine in 1630 in company of brother William and sister Elizabeth. Settled in Salem, Ma. Moved in 1648 to Malden, Ma. and then to Lynn, Ma. in 1650, after being refused a license to sell liquor.
      Unpopular with people of Malden for testimony against their minister.
      Son John died at age 17 in 1673 while in service to Richard Cutts.
      Complained about in June of 1672 for selling liquor to Indians.

      Indenture to brother William until he was 17 or 18 in 1630 for which he was to get ship passage, room and board, primary education, and the knowledge of husbandry plus two pairs of suits and a bible at the end of the indenturship. (Vernon Loggins; The Hawthornes; 1951)

      Brought up on charges of keeping a disorderly house, selling liquor to Indians and drunkards, holding profane revelies, brawling, and found guilty of disturbing the peace in June, 1672, for which he was heavily fined and his liquor license suspended for a time. (Loggins)
