L' ancestor of Thériault of America. Jehan Therriot (Terriot) is born into 1600, with the large roadway in Loudunois, province of Poitou, in France.
The first time that it is mentioned Terriau in Acadie goes up to 1629, with the name of Charles Theuriau, associated with the Company of News-France. That is to say a few years before Jehan Terriau does not arrive in Acadie, into 1632, with the commander Isaac de Razilly. Such as one brings it back in the " Gazette de Renaudot ", they leave France at the beginning of July 1632, unload in Hève, today LaHave in Nova Scotia, August 14 1632. They are possibly established with Port-Royal. The governor of Razilly dies in December 1635 and the command returns to Charles de Menou, sior of Aulnay.
Jehan Therriot which returns from France, towards 1637, after having married there, in 1635, in Martaize, in Vienna, with Perrine Breau, born towards 1611. The surname of Perrine seems to have undergone deteriorations. Even if at the time of the census of 1671, carried out by the father Laurent Moulins, that Ruau wrote, it is not any doubt today that the true surname is indeed Breau or Brault. The family besides is originating in Loudunois, in the province of Poitou.
In this Acadian census, of 1671, Jehan Therriot, 70 years, lives with his wife Perrine Brau, 60 years. It has 6 animals with horns, 1 sheep and 5 arpents of arable land.
Jehan is a ploughman and a peaceful man. Its existence proceeds entirely with Port-Royal. That does not have anything surprising good since this establishment is quasi the only one in Acadie before 1680, if one makes exception of the family of Entremont close to the Cape Sable.
The surname Thériault underwent also various changes, but it is noted that, in the registers of 1728, the surname is written Terriot.
Jehan and Perrine have seven children, of which three give us drops of blood, which bind us to the families Therriot Acadienne. The wire ensure the descent of all the Thériault families of America.
Firstly, by Claude Therriot, born in 1637, with Port-Royal and its marriage towards 1660, with Marie-Louise Gauterot, born in 1646, girl of François Gauterot and Edmée LeJeune. Their daughter, Marguerite Therriot marries on January 26, 1712, Rene Richard, born into 1688, wire of Rene Richard, sior of Bowsprit and Magdeleine Landry.
The second child, Bonaventure Therriot, born in 1641, wife in 1665, Jeanne Boudrot, born in 1645, girl of the pioneer Michel Boudrot and Michelle Aucoin. Their daughter, Marguerite Therriot marries in 1702, Rene Granger, born into 1676, wire of Laurent Granger, originating in Plymouth, in England and, of Marie-Henriette Landry.
The third child, Catherine Therriot, born in 1649, wife in 1669, the pioneer Pierre Guillebault, born in 1639, arrived towards 1668.
One is unaware of the date of death of the ancestors Jehan Therriau and Perrine Breau, the documents are dumb on this subject.
