Notes |
- In 1927, four years after the President's death, Nan Popham Britton published "The President's Daughter," in which she asserted that she had had a long love affair with Harding and that the late President was the father of her daughter Elizabeth Ann.
Some believe Britton's story (Others do not. See Robert H. Ferrell's "The Strange Deaths of President Harding), she never even conclusively proved that she had an affair with Harding, let alone that he fathered Elizabeth Ann.
Note also, that Nan Britton was not even born when Harding married Florence, and that he was still married to Florence when he died in San Francisco on August 2, 1923.
