- Laird of Inverernan
Jacobite
- He was a Jacobite and was baron baillie for Kildrummie.
Book: Baptisms and Burials, 1769-1799. (Baptism) Collection: Aberdeenshire: - Jacobite Cess Roll, 1715
In the Poll Book of 1696 only two are mentioned, William (afterwards of Buchaam) and Kenneth, aged respectively 11 and 6 years, but the baptisms of three others between William and Kenneth are recorded; they died young.
There were two daughters, Anna and Christian, the latter married her cousin, George, 4th of Skellater. These were by the first wife, Elspet Stewart.
By his second wife, Margaret Alexander, he had two more sons, the elder of whom, Alexander, born 1710 , succeeded to Inverernan, being served heir to his father only on 28 Jan 1724. The younger, Charles, born 1712 , was killed at Ticonderoga in 1758."
