King of France (879-884).
Carloman. Louis II the Stammerer's second son, initially shared the crown with his brother, Louis III, and received Aquitaine and Burgundy as his territory. He then reigned on his own after Louis' death in 882 A.D. He was forced to acknowledge Boson as King of Provence. He also fought the Vikings. He died at an early age as a result of a hunting accident in 884 A.D, without leaving an heir. The only claimant to the throne was the last son of Louis II the Stammerer, Charles, then aged five.
