    • Koning van 1327 - 1377; onderwierp Schotland opnieuw; nam nadat de direkte (mannelijke) lijn van de Kapetinger uitgestorven was als neef van Philippe "de" schone de Fransche koningstitel over waarmee de "honderdjarige oorlog" met Frankrijk begon. Veroverde na overwinningen in de zeeslacht bij Sluys (1340) en de landslacht bij Crecy West-Frankrijk dat hij echter later weer moestopgeven. Ten gevolge van zijn grote oorlogsuitgaven groeide onder zijn regering de macht van het parlement.
