    • Koning van Groot Brittanie en Koning van Hannover 1820-1830, sedert 1811 voor zijn krankzinnige vader regent
      Georg IV. (1762-1830) König von Hannover und Großbritannien. Als Prince of Wales und auch als König war Georg politisch wenig interessiert. Seine Interessen lagen in der Kunst und Mode. Mätressen und vor allem die Bauten Carlton House in London und Brighgton Pavillon verursachten hohe Schulden. Als sein Vater König Georg III. 1788-89 kurz und 1811 endgültig erkrankte, übernahm Georg als Prinzregent die Regierung. Die Vernunftehe mit seiner Cousine Karoline von Braunschweig war unglücklich und mit Skandalen behaftet. Nach seiner Krönung 1820 ließ das Oberhaus keine Scheidung mehr zu. Der einzige Aufenthalt Georg IV. in Hannover war sein dreiwöchiger Besuch 1821. Noch als Prinzregent ernannte Georg seinen jüngsten Bruder Adolph Friedrich 1816 zum Generalgouverneur von Hannover. Bereits im Jahre 1819 erließ der Prinzregent und zukünftige König Georg IV. eine landständische, den Adel priviligierende Verfassung. Sein nach ihm benannter Kunststil "Regency" in England, wirkte sich im biedermeierlichen Hannover nicht aus.
