  • Notes
    • Listed as a PLASTERER on sons marriage cert.

He was married in Claines, Worcester Eng Nov 1818
they probably moved to Birm ingham shortly thereafter where their son John was baptized. (John Davis son of John and Susanna of Borderley Street no date of Birth (Malt Mill Maker) Bapt O ct 25 1820.)
there is possibly another son John Joseph Son of John & Susanna b orn Jan 22 1818 - Baptised Sept 3 1822. (of Bartholmew Street (Tray Maker)) Cou ld be the same John Davis and he was baptised twice? (both baptisms are after t he one birthdate) This might be accounted by a change of jobs and of residence or it may be a brother or ???
The name Joseph is interesting because of the ot her Davis family who lived on Bell Barn Lane in the same house prior to the Joh n Davis family. It was headed by Joseph Davis and had a daughter Charlotte. (a family name???) Many more questions here than answers.

(From AD correspondan ce with Birmingham Parish Church. St Martin's in the bull ring. )

The move f rom Claines, Worcester to Birmingham was typical of the movement from the rural farms to the beginnings of the industrial revolution in Birmingham.
