He was granted the lands of Dudhope, Forfarshire; and on 29 March 1298 was created Constable of Dundee by charter from William Wallace, as a reward for services as Hereditary Standard-Bearer at the victory over the English at Stirling Bridge. In 1306 he joined Robert The Bruce, was captured by the English at the Battle of Methven and, on 4 August 1306 at York, was hanged, drawn and quartered.
