  Sion is said to have married to two Perry sisters, but according to thorough first hand research by James Fort of Canada, this isn't so. Sarah, sister to Mary Perry, married a Jesse Tillman instead. All that we know for certain at this point is that Sion's first wife was Mary Perry and his second wife was named Sarah with an unknown surname. (E) Sion and the Perry's are often connected in the records. Sion was a witness to several wills involving Perrys: James Perry of Kershaw Co., SC, Josiah Pery in 1812, James Perry Jr. and Benj. Perry. (C-1796, 1948, E) It is also highly likely that the info on the Sions in SC is confused between at least a second set of Sions also in that region. There is a second set of brothers named Sion (1807-1856) and Gideon E. Coats (Jun24 1811-1884) that are buried within 2 miles of each other in Etowah Co., AL (was then Cherokee Co.) whose stepmother Sarah Perry was said to have moved from SC with them. The Sion and Gideon we currently have connected to the Sion below died in MS instead at varying dates and are probabably a totally different set of brothers leading to this confusion. (C-1992) Sion, b. 1742 is possibly the Sion who purchased land in Kershaw Co., SC in 1785. He left a will which was probated in 1830. He left land to all of his sons and slaves to most all his sons and daughters. His estate must have been of some substance. His will does not support the fact that he had a son James even though some have connected him with a son James. He provides for the education of his 3 youngest children to be equivalent to what all the rest of his children have been provided with, but does not state which ones they were. What gives me doubt that this family is correct is that this Sion would have been almost 88 years old when he provided for 3 underaged children in his will. I suspect we have a generation of Sion's and Gideons missing in this family info. (C-2200, 2201)
