  • Notes
    • Benjamin also supposedly moved to the Miami Valley in Ohio. (Brien, Miami Valley OH Genealogies, V. 2, p. 150) I believe him to be the Benjamin John b. on May 19, 1786 and died in 1835 according to Brien's Miami Valley Genelealogies, V. II who Brien had incorrectly matched as the son of Daniel and Eleanor John. We know from Chancery records that this is not true. I am guessing that he is the much younger brother of David instead. He served in the War of 1812 in Miami Co., OH. I'm not sure of his death date. He is the Benjamin who had his will either written or probated in Sep. of 1814 in Montgomery Co., OH which lists a wife, Rhoda and 2 unamed children. His witnesses were David's (his brother's???) children, Joseph and Rebecca John. (Will Book A, p. 79 - C-2320)
In an 1832 guardianship, 19 year old Joseph B. John states that he was the son of Benjamin, desceased and names his guardian Leonard Miller, husband who married Mary John in 1828 of that county. It seems likely to me that Mary is his older sister, and the other unaccounted for child of this Benjamin John.
