- he made a will 17 jan 1786 in Mongoguisie, Cecil, Md, probated 6 Nov 1789 in Mongoguisie;
he is mentioned as the Son of Aaron Coppock of E Nottingham twp, Chester, Pa, when he married Margaret Coulson; and as Joseph's father when he married Jane Wilson in Little Britain MM, MPa in 1769; John's adress is given as Little Britain, Lancaster Co, Pa at that time. On John & Margaret's wedding certificate, she's mentioned as daughter of Joseph Coulston and Margaret, of Germantown, Philadelphia, Pa., where John also married.
Adress changes were sometimes caused by changing boundries, (eg Mason-Dixon line) and Little Britain Pa & Mongoguisie, Cecil, Md, are right on the border, so there is some confusion about their wills & death places; both are given in Little Britain, Pa records, where their children were also born, but other sources have listed Johns death & will in Md. ; both died within a year of each other.
They were the great-great-grandparents of Edwin & Barclay Coppock, Civil War heros with John Brown in his Raid on the Harper's Ferry Arms Depot, under Rbt E Lee.
