      Mattheuse name from Kris Krall, as well as all information except name.

      Monte Newkirk {1939}

      There is some information explaining the name of Van Nieuwkercke. I am
      including it so that I will not lose it. It may question Kil Hermans as
      Cornellissin's father.

      "Many years ago Cornelius Van Nieuwkercke lived boy & man in the
      village_____in South Holland. The village Kirk {Church} was it's chief
      and almost only distinction. The Kirk was architecturally different from
      any in Holland. It had been originally a castle...but it's last owner
      BENJAMIN CORNELLISSEN GERRETSEN VAN SCHLOSS embraced the Dutch Reformed
      Church and so fixed his estate...that the castle was turned into a church
      and there was one in the village it took the name of Nieuwkercke {new
      church} and the old Barons son Cornelius became known as Cornelius van
      Nieuwkercke."
