  • Notes
    • King 1720-1751
Elected King 24 of March 1720.
Crowned in tStockholm 3 of May 1720. Died 25 of March 1751 at Wrangel's Palace in Stockholm.
In 1743 the Parliament was to elect an heir to the throne, since Fredrik I had no children. They elected Karl Peter Ulrik of Holstein-Gottorp and sent a delegation to the Russian Emperess to inform her. But the delegation found that the Prince had been made heir to the Russian throne and that he had converted to the Russian Orthodox faith. The Emperess demanded that Sweden should elect Karl Peter Ulrik's uncle Adolf Fredrik of Holstein-Gottorp instead.
The Dalacarlians marched to Stockholm and demanded that the Danish Crown Prince should be elected, but they were defeated and the Russian candidate was elected.
In 1751 Fredrik I was succeeded by Adolf Fredrik.
      Motto: In God my hope
