The Darrell K Royal Research Fund
George Kline grew up in Fort Worth, TX and played soccer at Menlo College before completing a degree in economics at Austin College. George’s first job out of college was as a road manager for Kris Kristofferson, which he did for two years, traveling the world. He eventually returned to Texas and moved to Dallas to work in television for KERA on a new show called Saturday Night Opry (which would eventually become the famed Austin City Limits). It was during this period that he met his wife, Kristin, a UT alum and die-hard Longhorns fan. They were married in 1977. In 1981, George struck out on his own starting The George Kline Company. For the next 20 years, George built a successful television production company and raised three children: Amanda, Willie, and Luke. Following this, George worked in wealth management before retiring in 2013. George is now a grandfather to four: Jasper, Isabella, Thomas, and Russell. He lives in a memory care facility in Dallas where all of his daily needs are handled by a kind and professional staff.
